Dem: Trump ‘struggles with basics of being POTUS’
Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) said Sunday that President Trump “struggles with basics” of being commander in chief.
“The President is personally retweeting himself about PR instead of personally overseeing PR relief. He struggles with basics of being POTUS,” Schatz wrote on Twitter, referring to Puerto Rico, which was devastated by Hurricane Maria last month.
“Part of being President is driving federal agencies to work together and get the job done. Another part is moral leadership.”
{mosads}Trump on Sunday said people are “starting to recognize the amazing work” going on in Puerto Rico for the recovery efforts.
“We have done a great job with the almost impossible situation in Puerto Rico. Outside of the Fake News or politically motivated ingrates,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
“People are now starting to recognize the amazing work that has been done by FEMA and our great Military. All buildings now inspected for safety. Thank you to the Governor of P.R. and to all of those who are working so closely with our First Responders. Fantastic job!”
Schatz said Saturday that he planned to talk about Puerto Rico every time Trump discusses the NFL on Sunday.
“Tomorrow every time he talks about football I’m gonna talk about Puerto Rico. Feel free to join me,” Schatz wrote on Twitter, quoting Trump’s call for NFL players to stand during the national anthem at the Sunday games.
