Kamala Harris: DOJ ‘now stands on the side of discrimination’
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) condemned the Justice Department under Attorney General Jeff Sessions for its stance on LGBT issues and declared “racism in this country is real” during a speech Saturday night at the Human Rights Campaign National Dinner.
“We have been reminded racism in this country is real. Sexism, anti-Semitism are real in this country. Homophobia and transphobia are real in this country. And we must speak that truth so we can deal with it,” Harris said.

“LGBT rights are under attack,” she continued. “Under attack by a Justice Department that now stands on the side of discrimination instead of equality.”
Harris also called out Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore for his view that homosexuality should be illegal, and President Trump for banning transgender troops from the military.
At the same event, Hillary Clinton joked that Fox News seems to think the former Democratic presidential candidate lives in the White House based on all the time they spend talking about her.
