Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday fired back at President Trump after he ripped Schumer in the wake of the New York City terror attack.
“I guess it’s not too soon to politicize a tragedy,” Schumer tweeted.
President Trump sent out several tweets Wednesday morning following the attack on Tuesday.

Trump said the suspect came into the country through the Diversity Visa Lottery Program, which he referred to as a “Chuck Schumer beauty.”
“We are fighting hard for Merit Based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter),” Trump said in a subsequent tweet.
“‘Senator Chuck Schumer helping to import Europes problems’ said Col.Tony Shaffer. We will stop this craziness!”
On the Senate floor later on Wednesday, Schumer doubled down on his criticism of Trump’s tweets.
“President Bush in a moment of national tragedy understood the meaning of his high office. …President Trump where is your leadership?” Schumer said. “The contrast between President Bush’s actions after 9/11 and President Trump’s actions this morning could not be starker.”
“President Trump, instead of politicizing and dividing America…should be bringing us together and focusing on the real solution: anti-terrorism funding.”
Sayfullo Saipov, who was shot and taken into custody after allegedly driving a truck through bicyclists and pedestrians in lower Manhattan, entered the United States in 2010 from Uzbekistan under a program that allows visas to people from countries with few immigrants to the U.S.
Schumer played a role in the program’s conception in the 1990s.
After the October mass shooting in Las Vegas, some members of the GOP lashed out at Democrats, claiming they were politicizing the tragedy with calls for gun control.
