Chris Murphy rips Trump over ‘Pocahontas’ tweet
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Friday accused President Trump of using a 140-character tweet to send a “racial slur and a threat to jail a political opponent.”

Murphy lamented the “state of the American Presidency” in a tweet responding to one Trump sent earlier Friday in which he referred to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as “Pocahontas,” a derogatory reference he has frequently made to her claims of Native American heritage.
Earlier in the day, Trump called for the FBI and Justice Department to investigate Hillary Clinton. He also invoked Warren’s comment the previous day that Clinton “rigged” the Democratic primary.
“Pocahontas just stated that the Democrats, lead by the legendary Crooked Hillary Clinton, rigged the Primaries! Lets go FBI & Justice Dept,” Trump wrote.

The Twitter jabs are in response to revelations earlier this week from former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile, who revealed in a new book a deal that gave Clinton’s team control of Democratic National Committee finances and strategy a year before Clinton clinched the nomination.
Warren also responded to Trump earlier Friday, writing that his attempts to change the subject won’t distract from the investigation into whether his campaign colluded with Russia to win the general election.
“You might think your tweets are cute [Donald Trump], but they won’t stop Mueller’s investigation or keep your people out of jail,” she tweeted.
