Rich Uncle Pennybags from ‘Monopoly’ appears in Senate hearing again

An activist dressed as Rich Uncle Pennybags from the Monopoly game crashed a Senate hearing Wednesday for the second time in recent weeks.

Amanda Werner, the arbitration campaign manager for Public Citizen, was spotted in their top hat, monocle and mustache in the back of a Senate committee meeting Wednesday. The hearing focused on the impact of lawsuits against corporations.

“When you invite the @USChamber of Commerce, Monopoly Man shows up. After all, they bankrolled my Get Out of Jail Free card,” Werner tweeted.

Attorney John Beisner was testifying on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce during the hearing.

Werner was spotted in full costume by several people during the hearing, including Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).

“Well, Rich Uncle Pennybags is back in my Committee hearing,” Flake tweeted with a picture of Werner.

Werner also tweeted out a photo of themself with former Equifax CEO Richard Smith in the Senate.

“Ran into my good buddy, former @Equifax CEO Richard Smith, in the halls of the Senate today,” Werner tweeted.

Werner made their first appearance in the background of Smith’s hearing before the Senate Banking Committee last month.
