Strange: ‘Highly unlikely’ I’ll run a write-in campaign against Moore

Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.) said it is “highly unlikely” that he will stage a write-in campaign against Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate special election, according to multiple media reports.

{mosads}Strange lost to Moore in the GOP primary runoff in September.

Some Republican senators have called for Strange to run a write-in campaign against Moore after bombshell reports that Moore had sexually assaulted or had inappropriate sexual contact with teenagers.

The comments come just hours after Beverly Young Nelson became the latest woman to accuse Moore of sexual misconduct, alleging that Moore had sexually assaulted her when she was 16.

And those new allegations came just days after a bombshell Washington Post report claimed that Moore had inappropriate sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in 1979, when he was 32.

Several senators, including Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), had called for Strange to launch a bid against Moore after the accusations were made public.
