Moore accuses McConnell of double standard on Franken allegations

Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, who’s facing a number of sexual misconduct allegations, ripped Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday for his response to allegations that Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) groped and kissed a woman without her consent.

“Al Franken admits guilt after photographic evidence of his abuse surfaces,” Moore tweeted. “Mitch: ‘Let’s investigate.'”

“In Alabama, ZERO evidence, allegations 100% rejected. Mitch: ‘Moore must quit immediately or be expelled.'”

McConnell called for a Senate Ethics Committee investigation into Franken after radio anchor Leeann Tweeden on Thursday accused Franken of kissing her and groping her without her consent on a USO tour in 2006.

Tweeden also shared a photo of Franken appearing to grab her chest while she was sleeping on a flight back to the U.S.

In Moore’s case, in which the GOP Senate candidate has been accused of sexual misconduct, including assault, involving teenage girls, McConnell and numerous other lawmakers have called on the Alabama candidate to drop out of the race.

Moore has denied the allegations and vowed to continue his campaign.

Franken on Thursday released a statement apologizing for the incident and saying he would “gladly cooperate” with an ethics investigation.
