GOP senator praises British PM after Trump tweet
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) praised British Prime Minister Theresa May on Twitter moments after President Trump insulted her.
Hatch shared a photo of him and May at her residence, 10 Downing Street, from last week.
“PM @theresa_may is one of the great world leaders, I have incredible love and respect for her and for the way she leads the United Kingdom, especially in the face of turbulence,” Hatch wrote.

The lawmaker’s tweet comes after Trump tweeted at May telling her to focus on terrorism in the U.K. instead of on him.
“.@Theresa_May, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom,” Trump wrote. “We are doing just fine!”

{mosads}May said earlier Wednesday that it was “wrong” for Trump to retweet anti-Muslim videos from the ultranationalist group Britain First.
Though some British politicians have called for the U.K. to revoke Trump’s invitation for a state visit, May confirmed Wednesday that the invitation still stands.
Trump has been critical of U.K. leadership in the past, slamming May and London Mayor Sadiq Khan over their handling of the multiple terror attacks that swept the U.K. earlier this year.
