Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) said on Tuesday that President Trump should resign, becoming the latest Democratic lawmaker to call for the president to step down in the face of sexual harassment and assault allegations.
“I said today that the only way to stop this president that has a narcissistic need for attention — he’s a misogynist and admitted sexual predator and a liar — the only thing that will stop him from attacking us — because nobody is safe — is his resignation,” Hirono told reporters.

Trump during the 2016 campaign faced allegations of sexual misconduct, particularly after The Washington Post published the leaked 2005 “Access Hollywood” recording of him boasting about kissing and groping women without their consent.
The allegations against the president have come under renewed scrutiny in recent weeks, as a number of powerful men in politics, business, media and other industries have had their careers derailed by allegations of sexual impropriety.
On Monday, a group of women renewed their allegations against Trump, detailing their alleged encounters with the real estate mogul in a news conference.
Other Democratic senators have called for Trump’s resignation in recent days, including Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).
Trump lashed out at Gillibrand in a tweet Tuesday morning, calling her a “lightweight” and a “total flunky” who “would do anything” for campaign contributions.
Gillibrand fired back on Twitter, accusing him of bringing “unfitness and shame” to the presidency.
“You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office,” she wrote.
Dozens of Democratic women in Congress are also calling on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct against Trump.
