Sanders to publish new book a week after midterms

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is set to release a new book in November, just days after the 2018 midterm elections.

St. Martin’s Press, the book’s publisher, announced Wednesday that the book, titled “Where We Go From Here,” will focus on Sanders’s efforts to oppose President Trump and bolster the progressive movement in the U.S.

“Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign was a beginning, not an end,” St. Martin’s Press said in a news release. “In his new book, America’s most popular political figure speaks about what he’s been doing to oppose the Trump agenda and strengthen the progressive movement and how we go forward as a nation.”

The title is likely to fuel speculation that Sanders could mount a bid for the White House in 2020.

The Vermont independent vied for the Democratic presidential nomination against Hillary Clinton in 2016, before conceding in the weeks before the Democratic National Convention.

But Sanders’s campaign attracted a large following of progressives and speculation has swirled that he could run for president again. He has said that he’s still undecided on a 2020 bid.

Past presidential contenders have used book deals to lay the foundation for their campaigns.

Former President Obama came out with “The Audacity of Hope” in 2006, before his 2008 White House bid. Likewise, Clinton authored “Hard Choices” in 2014 before her 2016 bid, and former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney released his book “No Apology” in 2010 before his 2012 presidential campaign.
