Sen. Kennedy considering run for La. governor: report

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) is considering a run for the Louisiana governor’s mansion after just fifteen months in the Senate, according to Politico.

“Thinking about it. I don’t know if I’m going to do it, haven’t made a decision. I’m enjoying my time in the Senate, but my state’s in trouble,” Kennedy told the publication. 

{mosads}Kennedy would challenge Gov. John Bel Edwards (D-La.) if he decided to launch a gubernatorial bid for 2019. 

“I just don’t agree with John Bel. I like John Bel, but he just hasn’t been effective. And I don’t think he has a clean grasp of what we need to do,” Kennedy said. 

His term in the Senate is up in 2022. 

Kennedy served as state treasurer before being elected to the Senate and was a member of the Democratic Party until 2007. 

The senator has garnered national attention in recent months for his blunt speaking style.

Kennedy told Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday that the platform’s user agreement “sucks.”

“Here’s what everybody’s been trying to tell you today, and I say this gently,” Kennedy said. “Your user agreement sucks. The purpose of that user agreement is to cover Facebook’s rear end, it’s not to inform users of their rights.”
