Warren says Trump should pay up on $1 million offer
Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Monday called out President Trump over his offer to pay $1 million if she could prove she had Native American heritage.
In a series of tweets, Warren told Trump to send a check to the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, which supports Native American victims of sexual violence.
{mosads}“NIWRC is a nonprofit working to protect Native women from violence,” Warren said. “More than half of all Native women have experienced sexual violence, and the majority of violent crimes against Native Americans are perpetrated by non-Natives. Send them your $1M check.”
Earlier Monday, Warren publicly released the results of a DNA analysis that “strongly support” that she has Native American ancestry.
By the way, @realDonaldTrump: Remember saying on 7/5 that you’d give $1M to a charity of my choice if my DNA showed Native American ancestry? I remember – and here’s the verdict. By releasing the test, conducted by a top DNA researcher, Warren is reportedly hoping to defuse attacks from Trump and other critics who have claimed she is lying about her heritage.
Trump, who has repeatedly referred to Warren as “Pocahontas,” said during a July rally that he would give $1 million to her “favorite charity” if Warren took a DNA test and it shows she is “an Indian.”
“I took this test and released the results for anyone who cares to see because I’ve got nothing to hide,” she tweeted. “What are YOU hiding, @realDonaldTrump? Release your tax returns — or the Democratic-led House will do it for you soon enough. Tick-tock, Mr President.”

At the July rally, Trump joked that he would throw a DNA testing kit on stage if the two were to face off in a presidential debate. Warren is considered a top contender to take on Trump in 2020 and has said that she will think seriously about it after the midterm elections in November.
Many see the release of her DNA test as yet another indication that Warren is planning to launch a White House bid.
