Kirsten Gillibrand gives advice to incoming women lawmakers: ‘Follow your heart’
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) gave advice to incoming female lawmakers: “Follow your heart.”
Appearing on “Good Morning America” Tuesday, Gillibrand told the women to “bring the passion that got you elected to Washington to make things better for people.”

Gillibrand said she can’t wait to meet with all the new Congress members, which will make up one of the most diverse chambers in history.

Gillibrand won her third term and is seen as a potential presidential candidate in 2020.
Gillibrand said she is giving “long, hard thought” to challenging President Trump in 2020, calling it a “moral question.”
“If you want to be a great community organizer and a great representative you have to start with listening,” she tells the incoming lawmakers.
Gillibrand also said a big part of succeeding in Washington is working with colleagues to find “common ground” to make things happen.
