Hirono: Trump trying to blame Democrats for shutdown would be ‘such bullsh-t’
Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) on Thursday said any effort by President Trump to blame a potential government shutdown over the border wall on Democrats would be “such bullshit.”
Her remarks came during an appearance on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes” and hours after Trump warned that he would not sign a stopgap spending bill because of concerns about border security, a move that would significantly increase the risk of a government shutdown.
{mosads}“It is very true that he will bring on the shutdown and he has to take responsibility for it,” Hirono said on the show Thursday evening.
“Any effort on his part to blame the Democrats, it will be such bullshit that, as I said before, I will hardly be able to stand it,” she continued.

Trump has been criticized by Democrats, including Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.), for flip-flopping on his intention to sign a stopgap measure, without border wall funding, that would keep government agencies funded into the coming year.
The House has since passed a stopgap government funding measure that includes $5.7 billion for Trump’s wall on the Mexican border and additional security, however, the move further raises the odds of a partial shutdown on Friday.
