Dems label Senate ‘McConnell’s legislative graveyard’
Senate Democrats on Monday posted a video saying Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has turned the upper chamber into a “legislative graveyard.”
“Instead of working to find bipartisan solutions to our nation’s problems, Republicans have turned the Senate into Mitch McConnell’s legislative graveyard,” the narrator in the video says.
The video is dated Monday, but Politico reports that Democrats will unveil it Tuesday.{mosads}
The video points to McConnell’s comments in April calling himself “the Grim Reaper,” saying that “none of that stuff is going to pass” while talking about a number of progressive policy proposals.
“If I’m still the majority leader in the Senate think of me as the Grim Reaper,” McConnell said, referring to policies like the Green New Deal. “None of that stuff is going to pass.”
The video also notes several bills passed by the Democratic majority in the House such as the Violence Against Women Act and the election reform For the People Act that have not been passed by the Senate.
