Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is projected to serve another term in the Senate after winning reelection against Republican challenger Rik Mehta.
The Associated Press called the race at 8 p.m. EST.
Political pundits previously predicted an easy win for Booker against Mehta, a political newcomer with a law degree and doctorate in pharmacy.
According to late September data from the Federal Election Commission, Booker brought in about $3.5 million in cash support, compared to Mehta’s $18,000.
Booker’s Senate win comes after his unsuccessful presidential primary bid, which was suspended in January 2020 before Booker officially endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in March.
