Dem candidate: Voters should ask who they trust not to show their penis at work
A female Democratic candidate for attorney general in Michigan in a new ad says voters should pick the candidate “who doesn’t have a penis” amid a stream of sexual harassment claims in the workplace.
In a new campaign video, Dana Nessel argued more women must serve in public office in light of the recent shift in conversation about sexual misconduct.
“So when you’re choosing Michigan’s next attorney general, ask yourself this: ‘Who can you trust most not to show you their penis in a professional setting?’ ” Nessel asks. “Is it the candidate who doesn’t have a penis? I’d say so.”
{mosads}Her video comes as powerful men in industries ranging from politics to Hollywood have been accused of varying degrees of sexual misconduct.
Nessel, a candidate in next year’s Democrat primary, is a former prosecutor who started a law firm of her own in 2005, according to her campaign website.
In the video, Nessel promised not to tolerate sexual misconduct in her office.
“I will not sexually harass my staff and I won’t tolerate it in your workplace, either. I won’t walk around in a half-open bathrobe,” she said.
“And I’ll continue to take all sex crimes seriously, just as I did as a prosecutor.”
The current attorney general of Michigan is a Republican, Bill Schuette, who earlier this year announced that he will run for governor. President Trump has since endorsed Schuette in his bid.
