NJ official resigns after comparing immigrants to ‘rabid’ raccoons

A deputy mayor in New Jersey resigned late Monday after he posted comments on Facebook comparing immigrants to “rabid, messy, mean raccoons.”

Republican Rick Blood — who served as the deputy mayor of Mendham Township — said he had copied and pasted the post from a friend, The Daily Record reported.

He deleted the post on Sunday and issued an apology.

{mosads}The original post called the U.S. “weak” and “bankrupt” and said our enemies are “making fun of us.”

“We are being invaded by illegals, we are becoming a nation of victims where every Tom, Ricardo and Hasid is a special group with special rights to the point where we don’t recognize the country we were born and raised in,” the original post said.

The post also called President Trump a “bit of an ass,” but said he seems to be the only person who understands “what people want.” 

During a Township Committee meeting Monday, multiple residents spoke out against Blood’s post.

He apologized during the meeting and called it a “bonehead” decision to post the comments on Facebook.

“I am sincerely sorry for the controversy this has caused, and I take full responsibility for my actions and failures,” Blood said at the meeting Monday night.

Mayor Richard Diegnan Jr. announced Monday night that Blood had submitted his resignation after the council returned from a closed session.
