Scott Walker considering running for Wisconsin governor or Senate: report

Former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is mulling another gubernatorial bid in 2022, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

Walker, who was unseated by Democrat Tony Evers in 2018, told the Post he’s “not ruling anything out” in 2022.

{mosads}“As you know, I think six months is a lifetime in politics,” he said. “I’m not ruling anything out. My wife … told me, ‘Don’t pretend you wouldn’t ever running again.’ ”

Walker also told the Post he’d be interested in running for other offices such as the Senate seat that Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has said he will vacate in 2022

“I would defer to him,” Walker said. “If he chose to run again, I wouldn’t run.”

Prior to being defeated by Evers, Walker served two terms as Wisconsin’s governor. Wisconsin is a swing state that President Trump won in 2016.

Before he left office in January, Walker signed a controversial bill to limit the powers of the governor.

Walker also ran for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, but was the second major Republican candidate to drop out of the race
