6 injured after American Airlines flight makes ‘hard landing’ in Hawaii
HONOLULU (KHON) — Six people were taken to the hospital after an American Airlines flight made a hard landing in Hawaii.
Shortly after 2 p.m. HST on Saturday, the Maui Police Department received a central dispatch call regarding the incident involving an American Airlines flight at Kahului Airport.
Officials said American Airlines flight 271, listed as an Airbus A321neo on the flight tracking website FlightAware, experienced an issue upon landing after flying in from Los Angeles.
“The aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power and customers deplaned normally,” said American Airlines in a statement.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed it will be investigating the incident.
Out of the 167 passengers and seven crew members on the aircraft, American Airlines said five flight attendants and one passenger was transported to a local hospital and were later released.
