Conservative journalist Andy Ngo demands Portland officials take action against Antifa
A conservative journalist who says he was attacked amid rivaling protests in Portland last weekend is calling for the mayor to address policing policies in the city surrounding protests.
“How many more people have to be beaten and attacked in the city of Portland before things change?” conservative journalist Andy Ngo told CNN on Tuesday.
“I am by far not the first one. There’s been many other incidents that have happened since 2016 and the policing has remained the same, which is a policy of not engaging with militant protestors.”

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) said in a series of tweets that the city stands “against all forms of violence – regardless of someone’s political leanings.”
“Portland police officers have the unenviable task of keeping the peace. It’s a difficult job and hard decisions are made in real-time,” Wheeler said.
Ngo’s appearance on CNN came in response to the mayor’s statement.
Portland Bureau Police said three people were arrested in connection with the violent clashes over the weekend that left three people hospitalized. The violence erupted following a clash between the far-right Proud Boys and anti-fascist group Antifa.
