Two people reported injuries after a California courthouse explosion Wednesday around 8:45 a.m. Police immediately cleared the scene at the Santa Maria Courthouse citing “two reports of non-life-threatening injuries.”
One adult male was detained in connection to the detonation according to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office.
The law enforcement agency’s Public Information Officer Raquel Zick said the “explosion was from an intentionally set improvised explosive device” in a post on the social platform X.
The Hill has reached out to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office for further comment. California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office says they are “actively monitoring” the situation.
