Fetterman: ‘Trump understands that Pennsylvania picks the president’

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) on Sunday said that former President Trump “understands” the importance of Pennsylvania in the 2024 presidential election, noting the state’s impact in 2016 and 2020.

During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” Fetterman said that the election in Pennsylvania will be “very competitive.” He noted that tens of thousands of people showed up to Trump’s return to Butler, Pa., following an assassination attempt in July.

“That’s why I’m spending my time in small rooms all across Pennsylvania and red counties,” he said.

“I’m going to be all across Pennsylvania because we’re going to fight for every last vote,” Fetterman added. “And Trump understands that Pennsylvania picks the president. Our side definitely knows this, and we’ve seen that happen both in 2016 and in 2020.”

Last month, Fetterman said he thought that Trump “has created a special kind of a hold” on Pennsylvania voters, which only deepened after the first attempted assassination of Trump at his rally over the summer.

Trump and Vice President Harris are neck and neck in key battleground states with just more than four weeks until Election Day.

A Decision Desk HQ/The Hill average of polls shows Harris narrowly leading in the battleground states of Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, while Trump is narrowly ahead in Arizona and Georgia.
