Abrams makes final-day plea to Georgia voters: ‘I’m counting on you’

Former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams urged Georgians to head to the polls Tuesday, making a final push to turn out voters in support of the state’s two Democratic Senate candidates.

Abrams called on Georgia voters to support Democrats Jon Ossoff and the Rev. Raphael Warnock in Tuesday’s runoffs, writing in a tweet, “I am counting on YOU.”

“Let’s get it done!” she wrote in a caption for a video urging voters to turn out.

Ossoff and Warnock are facing off against Republicans David Perdue and Sen. Kelly Loeffler, respectively.

The Georgia races will determine which party controls the Senate, with Republicans needing to carry at least one of the races to maintain their majority in the upper chamber.

Abrams has been a vocal supporter of Ossoff and Warnock in the months leading up to the runoff election.

On Monday night, Abrams said during an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that she’s confident the Democratic candidates will pull out a win.

“I think we’re ready to get it done,” she said, noting the record voter turnout among minorities and young people. “I put my money on blue.”

Polls in Georgia close Tuesday at 7 p.m.
