Here’s who’s eligible for COVID-19 vaccines in each state

The availability of COVID-19 vaccines is becoming more widespread, prompting states to increase the categories of residents eligible to get vaccinated.

President Biden has directed states to make all adults eligible for a vaccine by April 19. As of April 10, there are 39 states where the vaccine is eligible to all residents 16 and older.

Every state has opened eligibility to residents age 65 or older, certain essential workers and residents 16 or older with certain high-risk medical conditions.

Here’s where each state and the District of Columbia stands on vaccine eligibility.

Alabama

All individuals age 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Alaska

All residents 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Arizona

All residents 16 and older are eligible to get the vaccine.

Arkansas

All Arkansans residents age 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

California

All Californians age 50 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine. Everyone age 16 and older will be eligible on April 15.

Colorado

All residents age 16 and older can receive the vaccine.

Connecticut

Everyone age 16 and older who lives, works or attends school in Connecticut is eligible to receive the vaccine.

Delaware

All residents age 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

District of Columbia

Washington, D.C., will begin offering vaccines to all residents age 16 and older on April 12.

Florida

All residents age 18 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine. Residents age 16 or 17, who can receive the Pfizer vaccine, must be accompanied by a guardian and complete a screening and consent form.

Georgia

Gov. Brian Kemp (R) announced the state would expand its COVID-19 vaccine eligibility on March 25 to include all Georgians aged 16 and older.

Hawaii

The state’s vaccination eligibility list includes those aged 60 and older, certain essential workers and those with certain chronic medical conditions.

Idaho

Anyone age 16 or older who lives or works in the state is eligible for the vaccine.

Illinois

Illinois is set to open up eligibility to all residents aged 16 and older on April 12. The state added restaurant workers, construction workers and religious leaders on March 29.

Indiana

All residents 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Iowa

All residents 16 and older are eligible for the vaccine.

Kansas

Gov. Laura Kelly (D) made the COVID-19 vaccine available to all Kansans aged 16 and up on March 29, entering the final phase of the state’s vaccine prioritization plan.

Kentucky

Everyone age 16 and is eligible to receive the vaccine.

Louisiana

All adults are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Maine

All residents age 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Maryland

All Marylanders age 16 and older are eligible to get vaccinated at the state’s mass vaccination sites. Everyone 16 and older will be able to get the vaccine at all providers on April 12.

Massachusetts

Massachusetts has opened vaccine appointments to all residents age 55 and older, those with certain medical conditions and a greater number of essential workers. All adults will be eligible on April 19.

Michigan

All Michiganders age 16 and older are eligible for the vaccine.

Minnesota

Minnesotans age 16 and older became eligible to receive the vaccine on March 30.

Mississippi

All Mississippi residents aged 16 and older are eligible for the vaccine.

Missouri

All Missouri residents are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Montana

All Montana residents aged 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Nebraska

Individuals age 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Nevada

All residents 16 and older are eligible for the vaccine.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire is allowing all residents age 16 and up to get the vaccine.

New Jersey

New Mexico

All residents age 16 and older can make an appointment for the vaccine.

New York

All residents 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

North Carolina

North Dakota made all residents age 16 and older eligible on March 29.

Ohio

Gov. Mike DeWine (R) announced in mid-March that vaccine eligibility would extend to all residents age 16 and older starting March 29.

Oklahoma

The state opened vaccine eligibility to all residents age 16 and older on March 29.

Oregon

All residents age 65 and older and those age 45 to 64 with certain medical conditions are eligible for the vaccine. Certain workers and those aged 16 and older who are pregnant are also eligible. The state plans to comply with federal guidance and allow all residents 16 and older to become eligible for the vaccine by May 1.

Pennsylvania

The state is providing vaccinations for individuals 65 and older, those age 16 to 64 with certain medical conditions and essential workers. All Pennsylvanians will be eligible for the vaccine by April 19.

Rhode Island

Everyone age 50 and older, those 16 and older with certain medical conditions, some essential workers and those in hard-hit communities are eligible to receive the vaccine. Gov. Dan McKee (D) announced that all residents age 16 and older will be eligible for the vaccine by the week of April 19.

South Carolina

All residents age 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

South Dakota

All residents age 16 and older are eligible for the vaccine.

Tennessee

Vaccine appointments are available to all residents age 16 and older.

Texas

All residents 16 and older Texas became eligible for the vaccine on March 29.

Utah

All residents 16 and older became eligible to make appointments on March 24.

Vermont

All residents age 40 and older, those age 16 and older with certain underlying health conditions, certain occupations and those from BIPOC communities are eligible to receive the vaccine. Gov. Phil Scott (R) announced that all residents 16 and older will be eligible on April 19.

Virginia

Residents 65 and older, essential workers and individuals age 16 to 64 who have underlying health conditions are eligible for vaccinations. Residents age 16 and older will be eligible to make an appointment by April 19.

Washington

Residents 60 or older, those 16 and older with high-risk health conditions and essential workers are eligible to receive the vaccine. Everyone age 16 and older will be eligible on April 15.

West Virginia

All residents 16 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine. West Virginians who are age 65 and older will continue to be prioritized.

Wisconsin

Wisconsin is vaccinating all individuals age 16 and older.

Wyoming

The state is vaccinating residents age 50 and older.
