Three dead, one missing in Colorado flood
At least three people are dead and one missing after flooding in an area of Colorado that was devastated by a wildfire in 2020.
A body was found Monday at the Poudre River, about 100 miles from Denver, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said.
The discovery of the unidentified man comes after 61-year-old David Brown of San Antonio, Texas, was found dead Sunday. Both bodies were found near the same part of the Cache la Poudre.
Madison, Wis., resident Patricia Brown, 59, was found last week with the cause of death determined to be drowning from the flash flood, according to the department.
One other woman is still missing as authorities search the area.
The flooding from the river led to a mudslide on Black Hollow Road in the Poudre Canyon on July 20, The Washington Post reported.
Six homes were destroyed and one other damaged from the mudslide.
The flooding and landslide occurred in an area that was devastated by Colorado’s largest wildfire last year.
The fire burned more than 200,000 acres and potentially impacted vegetation that was used to prevent these types of flash floods, according to The Post.
The impact from wildfires is hitting much of the West as fires as burning thousands of acres this summer and reducing air quality in the states.
