Texas police shot a masked gunman at the headquarters of the Plano Police Department, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Authorities said in a news conference Sunday that a masked gunman entered the building at 12:15 p.m. local time and fired toward a civilian employee and bystanders in the department’s lobby.

The gunman, who was wearing a black mask and shirt, initially got into a confrontation with the employee, left the building and then fired the gun upon returning, police said.

Two officers responded to the shooting and shot the gunman, who was taken to a hospital. He was the only one injured.

Authorities said they are trying to determine whether the gunman was connected to the shooting death of a female Lyft driver in nearby Garland.

Garland Police Department spokesperson Matthew Pesta said the woman, whose name has not been released, was gunned down after she dropped off or picked up a passenger, the Dallas Morning News reported.

When reached for comment on Monday, a spokesperson for the Plano Police Department said: “At this time, there are no updates to the shooting incident in our lobby. Garland PD is handling the homicide investigation in their city. As soon as we have any new info to release on our investigation, we will be putting out a news release and posting it on our Facebook page.”
