Doctor allegedly tried to hire Hells Angel to silence witness in opioid case

A Connecticut doctor is accused of trying to hire the Hells Angels to silence a witness in his opioid case, The Washington Post reported.

According to a criminal complaint filed on Friday, Anatoly Braylovsky allegedly asked one of his acquaintances, whom he believed to be associated with the biker gang, to help silence a witness in his pending case. 

“This guy’s gotta go,” Braylovsky allegedly told his acquaintance.  

The acquaintance later tipped federal authorities about Braylovsky’s request, and the FBI launched a sting operation on the doctor, the Post reported.

A federal authority posing a hitman called the doctor to meet him at a Home Depot hardware store to talk about the plans.

Braylovsky was hesitant to trust the undercover agent to carry out the hit, but said that he would check with his acquaintance before moving forward with the plan. Braylovsky was then arrested by police three days later on charges stemming from endeavoring to obstruct the due administration of justice, according to the Post. 

Braylovsky was arrested and charged in June 2020 for allegedly supplying oxycodone prescriptions to patients through $1,600 payments without first performing medical exams.

The Wallingford-based doctor was sentenced to serve five days in jail and later was released on bond to home confinement, the Post reported. 

Braylovsky was later booked into a federal detention center in Rhode Island, and his opioid trial is set to begin in October, the Post noted.
