New Hampshire Gov. Sununu admitted to hospital with flu symptoms

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) was admitted to the hospital on Friday after feeling sick for days with flu-like symptoms.

Sununu’s Chief of Staff Jayne Millerick released a statement saying “Governor Sununu has been admitted to Portsmouth Hospital this afternoon for additional testing,” The Associated Press reported.

“He is in good spirits and confident in his care. More information will be shared as it becomes available,” he added.

The hospital admittance was “a precautionary measure to determine the cause of the flu-like symptoms he has been experiencing this week” the staff member continued.

The governor’s symptoms are similar to those of the coronavirus, but he has taken three COVID-19 tests and all have come back negative.

“I woke up with symptoms similar to COVID and out of an abundance of caution I took two rapid antigen tests, which came back negative, and then followed up with a PCR test, which confirmed the negative,” Sununu said on Wednesday, according to the AP.

“I am going to rest up, and look forward to getting back to the State House soon,” he added.

The 46-year-old governor is fully vaccinated against the virus.

Sununu has been isolating the past few days and postponed meetings due to the illness.

The Hill has reached out to the governor’s office for comment.
