Gohmert launches official run for Texas attorney general
Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert (R) announced late Monday that he will run for attorney general in the state.
“Texas I am officially running to be your next Attorney General and will enforce the rule of law,” Gohmert said in a tweet, including a link to a website to donate to his campaign.

Earlier this month, Gohmert said he would run on the condition that he received $1 million in campaign contributions by Nov. 19.
In his campaign announcement video posted Monday, Gohmert confirmed he had reached his financial goal.
“I’ll have what I need to launch this campaign. I’ll need more, of course, but this will get us started properly,” he said.
Gohmert also noted that his priority would be election integrity. He also said he would not tolerate “unconstitutional mandates” and added that the “invasion across our southern border has to stop.”
Gohmert began eyeing a run earlier this month but did not officially enter the race at that time due to financial concerns.
“I’m willing to run and be the most dedicated attorney general that Texas has ever had, but here’s the problem: I have no money to run such a race, and we are about 3 ½ months from that election,” Gohmert said at a press conference at the time.
