Sunday’s talk show lineup: Japan, Libya and the budget

This weekend’s talk shows will likely split their time between the aftermath of Friday’s earthquake in Japan, the continued fighting in Libya and the looming budget showdown on Capitol Hill.

ABC’s “This Week” will focus on the international news as Christiane Amanpour hosts her show live from Japan.

CBS’s “Face the Nation” will touch on the earthquake but will feature two senators – Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Mary Landrieu (D-La.) – discussing what the U.S.’s role should be in Libya and the Middle East.

Similarly CNN’s “State of the Union” will divide its attention between the latest reports from Japan and budget battles here in Washington. Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) join Candy Crowley to discuss.

With more on the budget fight, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is the lead guest on “Fox News Sunday,” followed by two of the bipartisan “Gang of Six.” Chris Wallace will question Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) who are pressing a plan to cut $4 trillion from the federal budget over 10 years.

Gov. Mitch Daniels headlines NBC’s “Meet the Press” this week. The Indiana governor, often mentioned as a potential Republican presidential candidate, will talk about budget and labor battles. Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is next up to talk to guest moderator Chuck Todd and will give the Democrats’ side of the budget debate.
