Trump on immigration: Get rid of ‘bad dudes’

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump on Sunday said a key part of his immigration strategy would be deporting the “bad dudes” who are committing crimes like the slaying of a San Francisco woman earlier this month.

{mosads}“We’ve got to get the bad ones out. We have some really bad dudes in this country,” he said on “State of the Union with Jake Tapper.”

“I don’t mean Mexico, they come from all over,” Trump added.

He specifically mentioned Kathryn Steinle, who was killed walking on the street in San Francisco by a Mexican national with a criminal history.

Immigration has been a top issue for the presidential candidate in the last several weeks after he came under intense scrutiny for comments referring to “Mexican rapists” and criminals.

Fresh off his trip to the border town of Laredo, Texas, Trump said his first strategy would be “a combination of wall and border patrol” to keep illegal immigrants out.

Trump declined to lay out a specific strategy on the millions of people who have illegally entered the country but are now living and working in the U.S.

“We’re going to look very, very strongly about what to do,” he said.
