Sunday shows preview: Russian election interference in spotlight

Russia’s hacking campaign is expected to take center stage as several allies of President-elect Donald Trump are slated to appear on the Sunday show circuit this week.

The intelligence community on Friday released a declassified report detailing Russia’s attempt to interfere in the 2016 election by orchestrating a widespread influence campaign.

Trump has refused to concede that the Russians were able to alter the outcome of the election, but said that countries all over the world are trying to hack various U.S. institutions.

After two tweets criticizing Democrats and downplaying Russia’s role in the election, Trump tweeted Saturday that “only ‘stupid’ people” do not want a good relationship with Russia, adding that the U.S. has “enough problems around the world.”

President Obama is also slated to appear on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, days before he travels to Chicago to deliver his final speech as president.

Here is the full lineup:

ABC’s “This Week”: President Obama will make an appearance on the program to discuss his eight years in office.

CBS’s “Face the Nation”: Reince Priebus, Trump’s incoming chief of staff is set to appear on the show as well as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.).

CNN’s “State of the Union”: Incoming White House counselor Kellyanne Conway is scheduled to appear on the program to discuss the latest Trump transition news.

“Fox News Sunday”: Priebus will make another television appearance to discuss the growing tensions over Russia’s hacking campaign. The show will also feature Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

NBC’s “Meet the Press”: Defense Secretary Ash Carter and Conway are scheduled to be on the program, with Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) also set to discuss the Trump transition and Russian hacking.
