Comedian Samantha Bee said Sunday the Democratic Party should be “willing to try anything,” adding, however, that celebrity candidates won’t fix all the party’s “ills.”
“I don’t know if that solves all the ills of the Democratic Party, but I’m willing to try anything,” the “Full Frontal” host told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”
Bee was responding to comments from Michael Moore, a documentary filmmaker and outspoken critic of President Trump, who said Democrats should take a page from the Republican playbook and encourage “beloved” people like Oprah or Tom Hanks to run for public office.

Bee, who was born in Canada, said she couldn’t run for president because she was not born in the U.S.
When asked whether she would run for a public office other than the presidency, she responded, “Oh, kill me.”
Bee hosted a mock White House correspondents’ dinner Saturday, “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” where she roasted Trump.
The president announced earlier this year that he would not attend White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. Instead, he held a rally in Harrisburg, Pa., at the same time of the event.
