Sunday shows preview: Comey fallout continues as replacement interviews kick off

As the fallout from President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey continues, several Cabinet officials will appear on the Sunday show circuit, though the lineup does not include an individual from the White House press shop.

The Administration began interviews for Comey’s replacement on Saturday, talking with eight candidates for the role.

Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers have expressed concern over Trump’s decision to fire Comey last Tuesday.

The White House, which has offered varying reasons for Comey’s dismissal, will not be sending a member from its communications department to make the rounds on this week’s shows.

Trump on Tuesday sent shockwaves through Washington when he fired Comey, who was leading the FBI’s probe into Russia’s attempts to interfere in the U.S. presidential election and any possible ties between Trump campaign staff and Russia.

Here is the full lineup:

ABC’s “This Week”: Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and former Director of National intelligence are slated to appear. Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is conducting the probe into Russia’s meddling in the United States presidential election, will also be on the show.

“Fox News Sunday”: Warner and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) will both be on the show this week.

CNN’s “State of the Union”: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) will be on the show this week, as will former director of national intelligence James Clapper.

CBS’s “Face the Nation”: Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, which is investigating Russia’s attempts to meddle in the United States presidential election, is scheduled to be on the show. Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) and former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will also appear.

NBC’s “Meet the Press”: Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will be on the show, as will Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
