Sunday shows preview: Pruitt, Gore face off over Paris deal
President Trump’s announcement this week that the U.S. would withdraw from the Paris climate accord highlighted stark divisions between members of his administration on the United States’ role in combating climate change.
On Sunday, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt will face questioning over why the U.S. pulled out of the 2015 agreement. Pruitt, who lobbied Trump to leave the landmark accord, is set to appear on ABC’s “This Week,” NBC’s “Meet the Press” and “Fox News Sunday.”
On the other end of the spectrum is former Vice President Al Gore, a long-time climate activist who fiercely condemned Trump’s decision to exit the pact. Gore will join Pruitt on ABC, NBC and Fox News, while Gore will also appear on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

In moving to leave the Paris agreement, Trump sent shockwaves throughout the international community and prompted questions among key allies about the future of U.S. leadership.
On Sunday, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is set to appear on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” where she’s likely to face questions over the diplomatic impact of Trump’s decision.
In a separate appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” an excerpt of which was released Saturday, Haley said that Trump “believes the climate is changing.” The comment came after Pruitt and White House press secretary Sean Spicer had declined on Friday to say whether Trump believes in climate change.
But there’s also likely to be an intense focus Sunday on the week ahead in Washington as fired FBI Director James Comey prepares to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Comey’s appearance before the panel Thursday is his first such testimony since his shocking ouster last month.
Sen. Mark Warner (Va.), the top Democrat on the intelligence panel, will be on CBS and CNN to preview Comey’s testimony and talk about what lawmakers are hoping to learn from the former top cop.
Here’s the full lineup:
ABC’s “This Week”: Pruitt and Gore will be on. Also joining the show is former national security adviser Susan Rice.
