Conway: Trump ‘plans on being a two-term president’

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Sunday that President Trump plans to run for a second term, dismissing a recent report that suggested uncertainty about his running in 2020.

“The president says privately and publicly, often, George, that he’ll be president for seven-and-a-half more years, so he plans on being a two-term president,” Conway told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week.”

The New York Times reported Saturday that Republicans are trying to form a “shadow campaign” for the 2020 election. Recent events have eroded GOP support and faith in Trump, and party members are uncertain whether the business mogul plans to run again, according to the report.

The report also said some of Vice President Mike Pence’s top aides have privately discussed a possible campaign.

Conway brushed aside reports that Pence is going to run against Trump.

“It is absolutely true that the vice president is getting ready for 2020, for reelection as vice president,” she continued, adding “that is complete fiction, complete fabrication.”
