Sunday shows preview: Trump officials gear up for UN assembly

President Trump’s two top diplomatic officials will appear on the Sunday shows this week ahead of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and Trump’s first speech to the global body.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley will appear Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation” and CNN’s “State of the Union,” respectively.

The Trump officials’s appearances come days before Trump is set to address the U.N. on Tuesday. The president will lay out what his “America first” agenda will mean for the world in his speech, as well as further meetings with foreign leaders during the week.

The two diplomats will also likely address new aggressive moves by North Korea, which fired another missile over Japan on Friday, the second such missile launch in the past few weeks.

The missile landed in the Pacific Ocean about 1,200 miles east of Japan’s northernmost island. Trump is expected to condemn North Korea’s actions in front of the General Assembly next week.

British Prime Minister Theresa May and U.S. national security adviser H.R. McMaster are also set to appear on ABC’s “This Week” following the attack on a British train station on Friday that left 30 people injured. McMaster will also appear on “Fox News Sunday.”

May pushed back on Trump after her U.S. counterpart claimed the suspected attackers were “in the sights of sights of Scotland Yard.”

“I never think it is helpful for anyone to speculate in what is an ongoing investigation,” May told reporters on Friday.

Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, will also join them on “This Week.”

Also making an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” is Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who introduced his “Medicare-For-All” health-care bill earlier this week.

Here’s the full lineup for this week’s shows:

ABC’s “This Week”: British Prime Minister Theresa May; national security adviser H.R. McMaster; Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).

CBS’ “Face the Nation”: Secretary of State Rex Tillerson; Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
