Sunday shows preview: White House makes eleventh-hour push for ObamaCare repeal

The White House is making an eleventh-hour push to repeal and replace ObamaCare on the Sunday news shows this weekend ahead of the Senate’s scheduled vote next week.

Marc Short, the White House’s legislative director, will join NBC, CBS and Fox News this week to discuss the president’s support for the Graham-Cassidy ObamaCare repeal bill. Bill cosponsors Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) will also make an appearance on ABC’s This Week.

Short isn’t the only White House official joining the shows this week. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin will sit down for a 1-on-1 interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz on “This Week,” where he will likely discuss the Graham-Cassidy bill as well as the upcoming GOP push for tax reform. Mnuchin will also join CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”

{mosads}Two other key senators involved in the health care debate will also be making the Sunday show rounds. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who has already come out against the bill, will explain his reservations on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who famously cast a vote defeating the last GOP attempt to repeal ObamaCare, will join CBS’ “Face the Nation,” as well as CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Collins has not decided whether or not to support the Graham-Cassidy proposal, but the Maine centrist Republican said on Friday that she was “leaning against” voting for the bill.

Also on “Meet the Press” this week is House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who found success edging out congressional GOP leaders earlier this month when she and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) made a deal with President Trump to raise the debt ceiling and fund the government through mid-December.

The full Sunday show lineup is as follows:

ABC’s “This Week” — Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Treasury Sec. Steve Mnuchin

NBC’s “Meet the Press” — Marc Short, White House legislative affairs director, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)
