Bharara: Mueller will look at everything including obstruction of justice
Former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said Sunday he expects Robert Mueller to look at whether President Trump obstructed justice as part of the special counsel’s investigation into Russian election meddling.
“I think everything you see from our armchair seats suggests that Robert Mueller is going to chase down everything that might suggest a crime has been committed by any associated, colleague, relative of the president,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“And also the president himself.”
{mosads}Bharara, who was fired by Trump and is now a legal analyst at CNN, clarified that doesn’t mean there will be charges.
“But I think Bob Mueller…he’s going to look at everything,” he said.
“I think clearly one of the things he’s going to be looking at is obstruction. I think any prosecutor or investigator who sees the evidence that has come forward, including the firing of Jim Comey, including the conversations about how much the president did not like the Russia investigation,” he continued.
“All of that together paints a picture of potential obstruction. And Bob Mueller is a thorough and serious person, and fearless, and I think he’s got to go there.”
