Ryan on DNC revelations: I understand why Democrats would be ‘ticked off’

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) in an interview early Sunday said he empathized with Democrats over the recent revelations in former Democratic National Committee (DNC) interim chairwoman Donna Brazile’s new book, saying he would be “ticked off” as well.

“To see such a deck stacked is really pretty jaw-dropping to me. No wonder the Democrats are ticked off. I would be, too,” Ryan told Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”

{mosads}”It’s amazing to me how the Clintons just lived above the law or above the rules in this thing. I understand why Democrats are mad about this. They should be mad about this, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this, frankly,” he continued.

“I’ve never seen anything like that. I mean, we all said that the Clintons thought they lived above the rules, but this takes the cake. I mean this is pretty amazing. For them to basically be running the DNC in a primary,” he said.

Ryan’s comments come after excerpts from Brazile’s memoir, “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House,” surfaced last week. Brazile said former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign had taken part in an agreement that she said shifted the Democratic nomination system in Clinton’s favor.

NBC later reported the agreement pertained to the general election, although the memo included an allowance for Clinton’s campaign to review any outgoing mass communication “that features a particular Democratic primary candidate.”

Brazile also revealed that she had considered removing Clinton as the party’s nominee and replacing her with then-Vice President Joe Biden.

Numerous Clinton staffers defended their former boss on Saturday, saying in a letter that Brazile’s account is unrecognizable to them.
