Democratic senator: People don’t know what’s going on between Trump and Putin

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) said on Sunday that Americans know President Trump doesn’t always tell the truth and many wonder about his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Asked by “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd if people care about the Russia investigation, Brown said there is interest.

“People know he doesn’t tell the truth about a whole lot of things and I think people overwhelmingly wonder about President Trump when he calls everybody else names, including people in his own party, but he never criticizes Putin,” Brown said.

“I would guess 70, 80 percent of people in Ohio, including Trump voters, really do wonder what exactly it is between Putin and Trump that we don’t know details about yet,” Brown added.

Brown’s comments come shortly after Trump questioned the makeup of special counsel Robert Mueller’s team and reiterated that there was no collusion between his campaign and Russia.

Mueller is currently leading an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign team.

Trump has not been critical of Putin and has yet to condemn Russia for meddling in the 2016 election, even though there is substantial evidence pointing to the Kremlin’s involvement.
