Sunday shows preview: Giuliani strikes back
President Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani is set to hit the Sunday show circuit this week as his legal team pushes back on claims from the president’s former longtime lawyer Michael Cohen surrounding a key meeting at the center of the Russia probe.
Lawmakers are also expected to pay a visit to the morning shows this week as attention ratchets up for the final stretch of campaigning heading into this year’s midterms, with Sunday marking 100 days until the November elections.

Cohen shocked many in Washington this week when he claimed that Trump knew in advance about a meeting between his son Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer promising political dirt on Hillary Clinton, despite repeated past denials.
On Friday, Trump insisted he did not know about the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower while suggesting in a series of tweets that Cohen was “making up stories” about him and Trump Jr. in order to ease scrutiny from federal prosecutors investigating Cohen’s ownership of New York City taxi medallions.
“Sounds to me like someone is trying to make up stories in order to get himself out of an unrelated jam (Taxi cabs maybe?),” Trump wrote, without referring to Cohen by name.
Giuliani unloaded on Cohen as a “pathological liar” during an interview Thursday night. He is set to follow-up his comments with appearances Sunday morning on CBS’ “Face the Nation” and “Fox News Sunday.” Former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg is also set to appear on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Meanwhile, Reps. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), the Republican and Democratic leaders of their parties’ respective House campaign arms, are slated to appear on ABC’s “This Week” to discuss the battle for control of Congress in November’s midterm elections.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has enjoyed several months of strong fundraising numbers compared to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), which has lagged behind since February.
The midterm elections are now 100 days away come Sunday, and Democrats currently hold a lead on a generic ballot for control of the House.
