Jamie Dimon: ‘I’m done with politics’

JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said Sunday that he is done with politics, days after saying that he could beat President Trump in an election because he is “smarter than [Trump] is.”

Dimon, when pressed on ABC’s “This Week” about a potential presidential run, said he would not run for president.

Dimon added that he has no interest in running for president, saying, “I never say never to anything, but no.”

{mosads}Dimon said at an event on Wednesday that he could trounce Trump in an election, “because I’m as tough as he is, I’m smarter than he is.”

Dimon also told the crowd that he “actually earned [my] money.”

“It wasn’t a gift from daddy,” Dimon said in another jab at the president.

The CEO later walked back his comments, saying he “should not have said it.”

“I’m not running for president,” he said. “Proves I wouldn’t make a good politician. I get frustrated because I want all sides to come together to help solve big problems.”

Dimon expressed regret for his comments last week to ABC’s Rebecca Jarvis.

“Yeah, I shouldn’t have said it,” Dimon said. “And I — more out of frustration and a little of my own machismo. But I shouldn’t have said it and so — it also proves I wouldn’t be a good politician.”

Following Dimon’s comments last week, Trump tweeted that the JP Morgan Chase executive “doesn’t have the aptitude or ‘smarts’ & is a poor public speaker & nervous mess.”

Dimon, 62, predicted this year that Trump would be a one-term president.
