Sunday shows preview: Harris rides DNC momentum; RFK backs Trump

Vice President Harris is riding the high coming off a successful and energetic Democratic National Convention (DNC) this week and her competitor, former President Trump, also got a boost when independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his campaign and endorsed him. Both topics are likely going to be the focus of this week’s Sunday talk shows.

A group of three left-wing senators is set to appear on different talk shows this week, where they will likely reflect on the Chicago convention and share what’s next in their efforts to support Harris.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) spoke on the second night of the convention. He is scheduled to appear on ABC’s “This Week,” where he will likely speak more about the party’s enthusiasm for Harris and reiterate his message that its critical to beat Trump this fall.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who became emotional as the DNC crowd gave her a massive round of applause, will join NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Warren used her speech to contrast Harris’s past as a prosecutor and called Trump a “felon.” She will likely expand upon her statement and look ahead to the election.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) will appear on CNN’s “State of the Union,” where he will likely speak about his remarks at the DNC, where he attacked Trump on issues of race and the future of America.

While the convention was a success for Harris and her speech went off without a hitch, a growing number of Republicans are calling for her to address the media. She has yet to do a press conference or sit for an interview as the party’s leading candidate.

Harris said she would do a full interview by the end of August, but nothing has been scheduled or announced.

Senior DNC spokesperson Hannah Muldavin is going to join NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday,” where she is going to talk about the convention and when Harris will sit for an interview.

Republicans will also likely talk about Harris’s momentum.

Trump’s daughter-in-law and Republican National Committee co-chair, Lara Trump, is set to join Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” where she will likely discuss the contest between Trump and Harris.

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), Trump’s running mate and vice-presidential nominee, is going to join NBC’s “Meet the Press.” He will likely talk about the upcoming debates among candidates and the changes in the race.

On Friday, independent candidate Kennedy announced he would be suspending his campaign and threw his support behind Trump and Vance.

Kennedy is set to join “Fox News Sunday,” where he will likely talk more about his reason to leave the ballot in swing states and how he plans to help Trump on the campaign trail.
