Outgoing Va. Republican: Two-party system is failing Americans
Outgoing Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-Va.) said on Sunday that being a politician with any party right now is “difficult” and expressed doubts over whether the two-party system is benefitting Americans.
Riggleman was asked by Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press” if he is still a Republican.
“I’ll tell you what, I’m a Republican, what I thought a constitutional Republican was, but the way the GOP is going in Virginia it’s very difficult for me to stay with any party. I believe duopoly is really, the two-party system is really failing the American people right now,” he said.

Riggleman was defeated by Republican Bob Good in the Virginia GOP primary elections in August. Good, a physician, has drawn criticism for casting doubt on the efficacy of masks.
A recent Washington Post poll showed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden leading President Trump by 11 points in Virginia. The state voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in both 2016 and 2012.
