Detained NYC pizza delivery man reunites with family after being released

The New York City pizza deliveryman who was detained by immigration authorities has been reunited with his family after a judge halted his deportation.

A video posted by New York Post reporter Joe Marino shows Pablo Villavicencio’s tearful reunion with his wife, daughters and other family members.

“I am well … so happy for my wife, my daughters, my lawyers. Thank you! Thank you for everything,” Villavicencio told the New York Post.

Villavicencio, who entered the country illegal from Ecuador in 2008, was released Tuesday after spending about two months in an immigration detention facility.

{mosads}The deliveryman, who has no criminal history, received an open order of deportation in 2010 but did not leave the country. He has been married to a naturalized citizen since 2013, and has applied for permanent residency.

He was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement last month after a soldier called the agency on him while he was delivering a pizza to a military base.

U.S. District Judge Paul Crotty ordered Villaviencio’s release and ruled Tuesday that he may stay in the country as he continues to pursue legal status.
