Bottom Line: Former congressman signs with safety certification giant

Safety

The product safety and certification giant UL Solutions hired Holland & Knight to lobby on issues related to PFAS, lithium-ion batteries, plastics and data privacy, among other topics. Former Rep. Jim Davis (D-Fla.), who served on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, will work on the account, as will Davis’s former chief of staff, Karl ​Koch.

Infrastructure

Holland & Knight also registered to lobby on federal infrastructure investment policies on behalf of ​Macquarie Asset Management, an infrastructure asset manager. Michael Friedberg, former staff director of the House Transportation Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee, will work on the account.

Confections

​PIM Brands, which manufactures popular candies including Welch’s fruit snacks and Sun-Maid chocolate-covered raisins, hired Subject Matter to lobby on issues impacting the confectionery industry. Cedric Grant, former chief of staff to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), will work on the account.

Solar

Maxeon Solar Technologies hired Monument Advocacy to lobby on issues related to solar trade, energy and panel manufacturing. Last Thursday, the Singapore-based solar energy company announced plans to build a manufacturing plant in Albuquerque, N.M., once a loan application with the Department of Energy is approved. Tim Punke, who previously served as an international trade advisor under the Clinton administration and as chief international trade counsel for the Senate Finance Committee, will work on the account.

Financial Services

​Renew Financial Group hired O’Neil Bradley Consulting to lobby on Property Assessed Clean Energy financing issues. Katelynn ​Bradley, former director of investor and capital markets policy for the House Financial Services Committee, will work on the account.
