Amid firebombing talk, CNN’s Stelter says Trump ‘raising the temperature’ of rhetoric

CNN’s Brian Stelter said during a discussion of the firebombing at a GOP headquarters in North Carolina that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is doing the most in terms of “raising the temperature” of political rhetoric.

{mosads}“We have no idea who has done this. We don’t know if it’s a Republican, a Democrat, a movement. No idea. Could be some core of extremists, some sort of radical,” Stelter, a media reporter for the network, explained during a political segment on Sunday’s “CNN Newsroom.”

“But that kind of action is unacceptable,” Stelter continued. “And we need to have the temperature come down on all sides right now. Unfortunately, Donald Trump is the lead in terms of raising the temperature at this moment in time.”

The headquarters in Orange County was destroyed on Saturday, while an adjacent building was spray-painted with graffiti reading, “Nazi Republicans get out of town or else.”

According to WNCN-TV, a local CBS affiliate, a bottle of flammable liquid was thrown through the front window of the office.

No one was injured.

Local authorities say those responsible are still at large.
