Fox Business host steps down after being tapped for Trump transition team

Fox Business announced Friday that Anthony Scaramucci is no longer a paid contributor at the network after he was added to the Trump transition team as an economic adviser. 

Scaramucci, 52, was the host of “Wall Street Week,” an investment news show, airing Friday nights on the network.

{mosads}The hedge fund partner told New York Magazine that openly backing Trump wasn’t well received by his Wall Street brethren.

“I took a lot of flak from the media and from some of my fellow members from the Wall Street community, a lot of snide commentary,” Scaramucci said. 

“It makes me laugh. It’s fine. You have to be a big boy about this stuff.”

The decision by Fox Business is consistent with similar situations at Fox News and CNN this year. 

In July, Newt Gingrich was temporarily suspended by Fox News after the former Speaker was regarded as a strong possibility to be Trump’s vice presidential pick. 

Trump chose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, and Gingrich was back on the network as a contributor in August. 

Also in July, CNN suspended its contract with contributor Donna Brazile as she took over as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee in the wake of the sudden resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. 

CNN announced on Oct. 31 that Brazile tendered her resignation a few weeks before, after it was revealed via WikiLeaks that she passed along town hall and debate questions in advance to the Hillary Clinton campaign. 

Scaramucci will still appear on Fox Business as an unpaid guest, according to a Fox Business spokesperson.
